8 months (& LOTS of pics!)

Check out this big kid! Doesn't he look so different?

Maybe it's the shaggy hair (time for a trim around the ears?) or the ever-growing cheeks and chin. He seems to look so different each day.

Stuff Colin's been up to in the last month:

*Lots of squealing when happy or excited

-video to follow...couldn't get it to load - sorry!

*Pushing butt off floor when reaching for objects (will sometimes stretch all the way out on to belly)

*Eating more solids & finger foods (blueberries, watermelon, wheat toast, yogurt, chicken)

*Teething

*More verbalizing (da-da, la-la)

*Loves to stand & tries to pull up on objects (mainly the LeapFrog table)

*Sitting in the bathtub

*Weighs almost 20 lbs

Let us run with perseverance

We did it! Okay, so the 10k today was a little (or a lot) easier for John than me. But we enjoyed our time together this morning. Funny how something so "everyday" as running together (without a stroller or worrying about CJ) can be so enjoyable. We haven't been able to do that in over a year!

The rain came down for our entire race and it was fun. We finished in just over an hour and were happy that we didn't have to deal with the wind gusts. Overall, it was a great day! Thanks to Andy and Susan for the yummy food and blood mary's post-race, too!

Weekend in Grafton

Apparently I've been on a camera strike lately. These are the only pictures I took all weekend. Terrible!

Chicken!

Last night's supper was a big one...Colin had shreds of grilled chicken for the first time. As with everything else he's eaten, he loved it. It seems he's really starting to enjoy feeding himself. Maybe we'll be finished with purees sooner than expected.

Yesterday also marked the beginning of a solid food for lunch. He's now on 3 solid meals a day with 4 milk feedings (approx. 7 oz. each time). No wonder the lbs. are starting to add up! :)

On a side note: we celebrated Ross and Kelly's upcoming wedding last weekend. I'll get some pictures posted soon. :)

Buddies

Meet Will, Colin's new bud.

He's a little over 2 weeks old & completely adorable. It's easy to forget how small they really are from the start! He was a trooper while we were over to celebrate & have brunch for Mother's Day.

Can't wait to watch these two grow up together. We've already discussed that Colin will have Will's back in junior high...because, well, you know he'll be 6 ft. tall with a mustache by then.

At least it's not hitting the fan

Today, I bring you a quote from Dooce: "You have no idea how many of our [she & husband, Jon] texts to each other are poop updates. Well, then again, you probably do."

Umm...does she KNOW us? We can relate! At least one daily conversation is about poop. The timing of it. Consistency. Color. Smell. ... WHY?! Why is it discussed between conversations on the oil spill and what we're having for supper. And why is this normal when you're the parent of an almost-eight-month-old, solid-food-eating child?

Softball Widow

CJ & I were left to fend for ourselves last night as softball league is now underway. We've started a new nighttime/bedtime routine so there was a little more time for the two of us to play together (& take some rare Momma & Colin pictures).
Side note: anyone want to start betting on how much bigger that second chin can get?! It cracks me up that food particles actually get stuck under there now...

For Auntie Elizabeth

"It was cold enough to wear my stocking cap yesterday. I scream when it is put on my head, but aren't I a cute chunkster in it?"
