Ringing in 2011

It's the eve of the new year & we had a busy day.  The New Year's 2010 blizzard (more on that later) let up for a while this morning & allowed us to get out of the house before we went completely stir crazy.  So we bundled up, picked up a couple Pizza Corner pizzas & went to visit the Zimneys.

After a solid 3 hour nap we went to work tearing down the Christmas decorations.  Colin loved helping papa with the tree & lights.

Happy New Year!

The Holt family has been extremely blessed in 2010.  Our boy starting sleeping through the night, eating solid foods, crawling, then walking, & now running & (kind of) talking.  It's amazing to think what we were doing on this night a year ago.  John reminded me that I fell asleep during a movie (LONG before midnight).  I remember praying for a decent night sleep from our 3-month-old.  Fast forward twelve months: we had a great day as a family & after a yummy supper of sloppy joe's & a fun bathtime, our 15-month-old was in bed at 7:30 & we're enjoying a glass of champagne.  Yet again, hoping to make it until midnight. 

Here's hoping 2011 brings our family & friends health & happiness!

Christmas

Here's a sampling of our Christmas weekend. 

We let Colin open one present before we left for Tracy since he's been such a good kid (or maybe it was because John didn't want to haul it with). 

It's all put together the next morning...

We made it to Grandma & Grandpa Rau's Thursday late afternoon - just in time before the snow started.  This was a permanent fixture in the family room over the weekend: John & dad playing Wii, Colin in grandpa's lap.

Colin seemed to enjoy ripping the paper off presents & was much more patient in finding out what was underneath the paper than his mom!  We had fun testing out the new sled, reading new books & playing with new toys.  It was a wonderful, relaxing Christmas celebration.  Enjoy the last week of 2010!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Christmas #1 in 2010 is already over...what a fun weekend it was!  The Holt clan celebrated at our house this past weekend & we enjoyed great food, drink & of course, presents.  Colin was excited about his new LittlePeople ramp, Mr. Potato Head, & adorable Gap outfits.  I think John was the most excited about his North Face boots (as evidenced below).  

We're so fortunate to be close enough geographically to each other that we can get together & celebrate over a weekend.  Thanks again, Lop & Cindy, Ross & Kelly, & Luke & Alexa!!

Christmas Program Photo Opp? FAIL.

Colin's daycare had their Christmas program today & (unlike last year when the program was on our second day at the center) I was prepared & settled in 20 minutes early so John & I would have decent spot to see the action (again, unlike last year).  I don't know if I can call it a success though when I was crammed in shoulder to shoulder with other parents in the very back of the room, didn't even get to stand by John because he couldn't make it across the room of people by the time he arrived, & lastly, these are the only photos I was able to get...

The program was great though; the infant class played the drums to "Little Drummer Boy".  Colin had a little stage fright & didn't bang on the drum once, but found John in the crowd & continued to smile at him.  So fun!
  

Growing up too fast

I'm pretty sure this week marks one year that I've been back to work & Colin's been in daycare.  How can that be?!  Even harder to believe is that he's almost ready to move into the toddler room at school.  To help with the transition, his teachers started having him nap on a cot.  I received a text with this photo today. 

He definitely doesn't look much like a baby anymore!

Throwback

Hello, 1981!     

John dressed Colin in this Lacoste shirt yesterday that was my brother's.  & yes, it's a 3T.  But clothing sizes were smaller thirty years ago...right?...   

It's kind of amazing that I was able to capture a couple photos of a content-looking kid yesterday.  It was a long-ish week dealing with high temps & cutting 4 canine teeth.  But I think things are on the upswing.  Or at least we hope!

Outside our window

We've had a few mornings with hoar frost this week & I was finally able to capture it today.  I can just hear Johnny Mathis crooning "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas."  Love it!

 And inside the warm house, here's Colin after eating (or maybe more like slurping) his breakfast.  We spent the day at home dealing with the effects of cutting all four canine teeth.  He looks so thrilled to be having his picture taken!
