Momma's Little Helper

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, a nasty flu bug hit our house Tuesday night.  Needless to say, we came home to a disaster of a house on Saturday.  Good thing I had a little helper to expedite the cleaning process. 

Over the snowbanks & through the wind gusts...

... to Grandma & Grandpa's house we went!  Neither the flu nor a November blizzard could stop Thanksgiving 2010.  We made it home on Thursday morning to celebrate turkey day with the Holt siblings.

There's so much in our lives to be thankful for this year & we're blessed to be able to celebrate with our wonderful family.  Here's to a fantastic last month of 2010!

Ah, Wednesday

So a lot of bloggers do a "Wordless Wednesday" post with a photo of their little one that needs no caption or explaining.  Me?  This is all I can muster up today. 

But I'm not playing by the rules because this isn't going to be wordless.  & this [obviously] isn't even Colin!  But there really hasn't been anything news-worthy in our household lately & this is kind of what the little man looked like this morning.  We were woken up intermittently throughout the night thanks to a gunky nose, the start of a cough, & a sore throat (I think).  So I'm here this morning but not really present.  How many hours until it's the weekend? 

     

Get a haircut & get a real job

Colin can cross one of those off his list of to-do's...he got his first haircut today.  We went from this:

Maybe the early percussion introduction will pay off when he's making millions as a drummer in a platinum-selling rock band.

Disclaimer:  Please don't mind the toy-ridden living room, that CJ's sock is half off, or that John is wearing rolled-up sweatpants.  Or really, even the fact that we let our child be a drummer with a kitchen spoon & saucepan.  

Fun outside

In the words of my brother some 30-ish years ago, we had "fun outside" on Sunday.  Is it really November?  Or October in disguise? 

Colin was a little unsure of the chaos at the playground when we arrived...

But then noticed the musical bells...

& couldn't be stopped!

If only we had 3 more months of summer (or even fall) to run around on the playground in t-shirts & tennis shoes.  Instead, snowpants & winter boots will soon be calling.  Maybe we'll replace the playground with the ice rink...?

All by myself!

Colin has started practicing using a spoon on his own instead of us loading it & handing it to him.  He's doing pretty well!  Although, we did have to change his shirt after this applesauce escapade on Saturday...

The coming months

Here's what the little man has been up to & what he'll be doing in the coming months.

As for 13 months, he does:

• bend over to pick up an object
• hold arms/legs out to help get dressed
• roll & throw a ball back & forth
• respond to instructions - "give momma a kiss", "bring me the ball" (majority of the time) 

Does not:

• use two words skillfully (really only says "ball", every now & then "momma" & "dada")
• combine words & gestures - mostly just gestures

Looks like we have a fun road ahead!

Busted!

What you can't see is one more cupboard door open & a cutting board & saucepan lid on the floor.  At the top of this weekend's honey-do list: install cabinet locks.  

It's pumpkin time!

Halloween has come & gone...I figure it's pretty good when I'm getting photos up only 2 days after the fact!  We had a busy weekend filled with pumpkin carving, Sioux hockey, big kid shoe shopping, & of course trick-or-treating.
