Six months

We cannot believe the little man was welcomed into the world six months ago. SIX MONTHS! HALF A YEAR! This is such a fun age and Colin is really starting to show his personality. This month's photos were a little more difficult to capture...apparently the bear is for playing with, not for sitting in the chair nicely.

Colin's mastered sitting unassisted, rolling over both ways (when he chooses to) and is now eating veggies and fruit in addition to his rice cereal (2 meals per day). Touch and feel books, momma and papa's faces, and Sophie are his favorite things to "pat" and put in his mouth. He is also chatting up a storm and his ever-expanding vocabulary is full of "ah-goo", "baa" and "ahh".

Colin had his first taste of a veggie on Friday. He LOVED sweet potato! A few bites in and he would wait, mouth wide open, for the spoon.

Grateful.

I'm feeling the love this morning. Seeing Colin's gummy grin and hearing his excited squeal forced me to pause and smile. We've experienced some major changes this past year and even when we have days like yesterday (Ugh! Daycare!), I am ever grateful. Grateful for our wonderful family. Grateful for the opportunity to be parents. We just need to remember to soak it in and give thanks.

We've got a sleeper!

Better find some wood to knock on because I'm probably jinxing this...But Colin has been a GREAT sleeper all week. Hasn't woken to eat the past 3 nights and STTN last night and the night before. He's hopefully not saving all of his night wakings for this weekend.

In other news, the little man is sitting unassisted! He can go for quite a few minutes before his abs and back muscles give out. He's growing so fast!

We also found out that 1) he likes pears. and 2) pears work wonders for relieving his tummy from rice cereal pains. We had to see the back-up outfit at daycare yesterday - the first time in a while! :)

Family

Colin finally got to meet his aunt Jen and cousin Helena last weekend. Too bad we're not closer to each other geographically; I think Colin would enjoy stealing Helena's toys for a long time to come.

T-minus a month & a half

Karina's weeks as a mom-to-be are numbered! We celebrated her and Baby Zimney on Saturday. We can't wait until Baby arrives! We're betting on Colin having a buddy with whom he'll cheer on the Sioux rather than a future girlfriend.

Because John's not busy enough...

...he's going back to school! He just found out he's been accepted to the Graduate Program at the Univeristy of Mary for Counseling. He'll start classes this fall and graduate with a Master's in Addiction Counseling in [hopefully not more than] a couple years.

Congrats, Johnny! Proud of you!

Five. Cinco. Cinq. Funf.

Colin is five months old! He is sitting unassisted (for a short time) and will reach for anything that catches his eye. His newest fascination involves the light switch in the bathroom. He loves to hit the switch on and off and watch the light flicker.

Workin' for the weekend

We had a great weekend. Grandma Rau came to watch Colin while John and I shredded the "mountain" outside Bemidji. If only all weekends could be this relaxing and eventful at the same time.

~John wants me to add that we ate at the finest establishment Bemidji has to offer: the Badda Bingh. Actually it was called The Whiskey Depot; they fooled us by still displaying the Badda Bingh signage. Who knew the place would be so good that we'd want to pay them twice?! And by so good we mean that 7 of their 12 beers on tap were "out". Oh, and the Saturday appetizer special of chips and salsa was also "out". AND...that high-tech machine that processes credit card payments...well, that must've been "out" too...out to lunch because we had to get cash to pay our bill.
